GPS and Cookies
Upon your visit to a GPS web site, GPS may send a "cookie" to your computer. A cookie is a piece of data that identifies you as a unique user. When used, GPS uses cookies to improve the quality of our service and to understand our user base more. GPS does this by storing user preferences in cookies and by tracking user trends and patterns of how and what people search, and which services GPS users use. GPS will not disclose its cookies to third parties except as required by a valid legal process such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order.
Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being received. Be aware, however, that some parts of the GPS Services may not function properly or may function differently if you refuse cookies.
What Information Do We Collect?
GPS does not collect any "personal" information about you (such as your name, email address, postal address, etc.) without expressly notifying you that it is collecting the information, such as when you sign up for a GPS Membership. GPS notes and saves information such as time of day, browser type, browser language, the referring IP ("Internet Protocol") address, the IP address of the computer you are using, and the GPS services you choose to visit, but only as anonymous information, not personally identifiable information. That "anonymous" information is used to verify our records and to provide more relevant services to users. For example, GPS may use information about the services you selected to visit to determine which types of services are most popular to our visitors. GPS does not knowingly collect any personal identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13.
With Whom May GPS Share Information?
GPS may share anonymous information about you with advertisers, business partners, sponsors, and other third parties. However, we only divulge aggregate information about our users and do not collect and will not share any personally identifiable information with any third party without your express consent. For example, we may disclose how frequently the average GPS user visits our sites, how many visitors we have on an average day, what part of the world or country those visitors are from, or which links are most often used. Please be aware, however, that we will release whatever specific information about you we may have if we have a good faith belief that we are required to do so to comply with any valid legal process such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order. We may also disclose whatever specific information about you we may have if we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be violating an agreement with us such as our Terms of Service, Membership Agreement, our License Agreements, or to protect the safety of our users and the public or under confidentiality agreements with certain third parties which assist us in developing, operating and maintaining GPS and its services.
For the personally identifiable information GPS does collect, such as when you sign up for a GPS Membership, GPS may share that information with third parties with your consent to enable use of the services GPS provides. One particular example of this is when you list a particular part for purchase or sale with a GPS Service, your contact information may be shared with prospective sellers or purchasers as you request when listing the part. Another example of how your personal information may be used is when you search for a particular part or machine, a record of that search may be retained so that we can know what parts you need and direct the appropriate parts to you.
Links to Third Party Sites and Information
Any third party sites which may be linked to through GPS Services are developed by people over whom GPS exercises no control. These third party sites may send their own cookies to users, collect data, or solicit personal information. Due to the technicalities of the operation of the Internet, we cannot control this collection of information. As the consumer, you should contact these third party sites and content providers if you have any questions about their use of the information they potentially collect.
